Family displaced after Uniontown fire

A Uniontown house that was home to six people is a total loss after a fire Friday night. Fayette County 911 dispatch said a neighbor called in the fire at 99 Connellsville St. at 6:22 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke, said Uniontown Assistant Fire Chief Rick Lint. No one was injured in the fire. Crews led off with an “aggressive attack and search,” Lint said, prompted by a bystander who said there might be two children upstairs. “Crews got a pretty quick knock down, fast search to confirm that one was in the residence at the time,” he said. Point Marion man sentenced to prison for interstate drug trafficking ring

A Fayette County man is one of nearly two dozen people who have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their roles in a multi-state drug trafficking ring that led to their indictment in northern West Virginia more than two years ago. James Elli was sentenced Wednesday by Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to serve 79 months in prison after pleading guilty last year to one federal charge for the drug trafficking operation that stretched from Philadelphia to Detroit. Handgun found in Wash High restroom

Washington School District Superintendent Alisa King said disciplinary action has been taken in connection to an incident in which a handgun was found inside a boys' restroom at Washington High School. King did not disclose details of the incident, including when it occurred and who discovered the firearm, which reportedly belonged to a school resource officer.
