Connellsville man accused of theft

A Connellsville man is accused of stealing a womanÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ debit card and using it to spend upwards of $8,000. Billy K. Cable, 39, was charged on Thursday with identity theft, theft by unlawful taking, financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, receiving stolen property and access device fraud. Police alleged that between March 3-19, he used the card to withdraw money at ATMs and to make purchases. A Connellsville police officer who looked at a surveillance photo from one of the ATMs recognized Cable, according to court paperwork. Another Laurel Highlands teacher under investigation

A third Laurel Highlands High School teacher is being investigated for possible child abuse. The investigation was prompted by a tip that was submitted through ChildLine, said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kalee Barnhart. The teacher is the third at the school in recent months linked to suspected abuse. Two others were charged in March.
