Frank Shoaf Applause

Frank J. Shoaf, formerly of Grindstone, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force, Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

Prior to his promotion, Shoaf completed a three-month tour as a strategic planner in the Air Operation Center at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, and recently completed a six-month tour as a military strategist at the Air Operations Center at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, where he was awarded as a member of Pacific Air Forces Team of the Quarter for the 3rd Quarter of 2018.

Lt. Col. Shoaf is currently serving as the acting commander of the 258th Air Traffic Control Squadron in Johnstown.

He is a 1994 graduate of Frazier High School where he played varsity baseball, a 1998 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania majoring in political science and public administration, and holds a master’s degree in management and leadership.

He is a son of Marilyn Shoaf, and the late Bernard Shoaf, both of Grindstone.
