Uniontown Elks celebrate 125 years
The Uniontown Elks, Lodge #370 held a 125 Year Anniversary Gala this October.
Volunteers and members organized the gala, which included a performance from The Maestros, a 14-piece orchestra of musicians from the area. The lodge was decorated to be reminiscent of times gone by.
The lodgeĢƵ exalted ruler is Gary Reagan, who also served as exalted ruler during the lodgeĢƵ 100th anniversary.
On the heels of the gala, the club also celebrated the countyĢƵ veterans during its ninth annual Elks Veterans Dinner in November. Twenty-seven veterans and their families attended.
The Elks organization began in 1868 as a social club for minstrel show performers, called the “Jolly Corks,” and was established as a private club to elude New York City laws governing the opening hours of public taverns.
