Smithfield Elementary students win pizza party for recycling efforts

Rascal the Recycling Raccoon delivered a pizza to Amy RandolphÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ third-grade class at Smithfield Elementary School in the Albert Gallatin Area School District.

The Fayette County Recycling Convenience Center sponsored an Earth Day Recycling Challenge in the Albert Gallatin Area School District throughout the month of April.

Students at all five of the districtÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ elementary schools and two junior high schools competed to recycle the most materials. Katie MoscoloniÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ third-grade class recycled 34 bags and won a pizza party for all of Smithfield Elementary. Rascal the Recycling Raccoon, the centerÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ mascot, delivered the pizzas near the end of May.

Principal Dr. Renee Rosie had a team of six students help her with the schoolÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ recycling efforts. They are the latest group of Fayette County Recycling Rangers, along with MoscoloniÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ class.
