Connellsville Historical Society bringing back dinner lecture series
After a pandemic-related pause, the Connellsville Historical Society is set to resume its dinner lecture series.
Local historian and ĢƵ columnist Richard Robbins will be the guest lecturer on Friday, June 23. Robbins will discuss his book, “Troubled Times: The Struggle for Wages, Recognition and Power in the Age of Coal and Coke,” and will have copies for sale during the 6 p.m. event at the Connellsville Canteen.
Karen Hechler, the president of the Connellsville Historical Society, said the meal will include ham, scalloped potatoes, broccoli, salad, cherry cobbler and beverages.
The society held its first dinner lecture series in 2019 to complement the annual Braddock’s Crossing of the Yough event held in Connellsville the last full weekend in June.
“The first dinner-lecture with Dr. David Preston was quite successful,” Hechler said.
The cost is $45 per person and reservations are required. A check must be received by the historical society to assure seating. Payment can be sent to 1103 Isabella Road, Connellsville, Pa., 15425, and made out to the Connellsville Historical Society.
“Please consider coming to the dinner-lecture and support our efforts to preserve and educate the public on the amazing history of the Connellsville area,” Hechler said.
