Donations sought for Period Positive campaign
Twenty-three businesses in Fayette County and the surrounding areas are collecting menstruation products to benefit high school and middle school students in area school districts.
The Period Positive campaign was started by Soroptimist International of Fayette County last year. SI partnered with Vanity Salon in Lemont Furnace and collected 4,000 products.
This year, the program started with 12 community partners and has expanded to include 23. The partners will collect items through the end of August with the option to extend the collection through the end of September.
In addition to Vanity Salon, other Fayette businesses include: Nancy’s Swim Spa in Connellsville; Shear Symmetry Salon, Crossfit, Amy’s Quilt Room, OmBody Massage & Wellness, Perfect 10 Nail Salon, Trinity Spa, Revive Salon, Terri’s New Image Salon and Fayette County Chamber of Commerce in Uniontown; Color Me Relaxed Salon in Chalk Hill; Ford Burd Church and Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania in Brownsville; New Life Covenant Church of God in Markleysburg; and NovaCare in Uniontown and Masontown.
Additional businesses are welcome to place collection boxes and can do so by calling Deborah McClelland at 724-963-9524.
