VanSickleÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ solo HR lifts Mill Run to 5-4 victory

Alan VanSickle’s solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Mill Run to a 5-4 Fayette County Baseball League home victory Sunday afternoon over visiting M&R Transit.

Mill Run is tied with Oakland (Md.) for third place at 11-6, pending the Oaks’ result against Carmichaels. M&R Transit holds a game lead in second place with a 12-5 record.

M&R Transit opened the scoring with Andino Vecchiolla’s RBI single in the top of the first inning.

Mill Run tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a double steal by Marc Prinkey and Bill Bendis.

Cole Shearer’s run-scoring single gave Mill Run the lead in the bottom of the third inning.

M&R Transit surged ahead in the top of the third inning on Kaleb Scott’s RBI triple, Caleb Yanosky’s sacrifice fly and Santino Marra’s run-scoring triple.

Mill Run tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Beau Bigam’s RBI single brought home the first run and Tanner Orndorff’s single tied the game.

Kole Koontz was the winning pitcher in relief of Bendis. Koontz pitched three scoreless, hitless innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Kace Shearer, Cole Shearer and Teran Kemp all had two hits for Mill Run. VanSickle scored three runs.

Marra paced M&R Transit with three hits. Scott contributed a pair of hits.

WBAC 12, Sewickley Twp. 2 – WBAC benefited from six errors and seven walks for a Fayette County Baseball League home victory in six innings.

Austin Lincoski led WBAC (5-11-1) with three RBI, a triple and two runs scored. Colby Simmons had two doubles and drove in two runs. Trevor Stewart and Geno Thorpe both had two RBI.

Winning pitcher Nate Messner had two hits and two runs.

Losing pitcher Christian Park doubled and Dom Koch had a triple for Sewickley Twp. (2-16).

Carmichaels 10, Oakland (Md.) 0 — Gianni Cantini and Drake Long combined on a one-hitter in a Fayette County Baseball League home victory in six innings over visiting Oakland (Md.)

Cantini started and pitched 4.1 innings for the win, allowing one hit with no walks and seven strikeouts. Long picked up the final two outs by strikeout.

The Copperheads remain in first place with a 12-2-1 record. Carmichaels holds a 1½-game lead over M&R Transit with three games to play.

Oakland slipped into fourth place with a 11-7 record.

Nine different players had at one of Carmichaels’ 13 hits. Noah Burke led the attack by going 3-for-3 with a double and two singles, plus two RBI. AJ Vanata doubled and drove in three runs. Jimmy Sadler had a triple and drove in two runs. Noah Mildren and Gavin Pratt both finished with two hits.

The Oaks’ lone hit was Cole Parker’s double in the top of the second inning.
