More contributions come in to Give-A-Christmas campaign
Total: $4,882
Goal: $10,000
More kind and generous donors have shown their support to the Give-A-Christmas campaign, bringing it closer to meeting the $10,000 goal.
The annual fundraiser, coordinated by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, supports local units of the Salvation Army. All of the money raised stays local, benefitting those in need who live in Fayette County.
Over the past 40 years, thousands of donors have supported Give-A-Christmas, raising more than $1 million. Those funds support several programs, including those that provide food and housing assistance.
Sparkle the Christmas Star, longtime mascot of the campaign, believes this year’s $10,000 goal will be met.
“Members of our community are kind and generous. They recognize the needs of others, and always come through with much needed help,” Sparkle said. “I know they will do that this year, too.”
The campaign runs through Dec. 23, and the final total raised will be announced in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper. Information about how to donate is below.
