Garrett Neese Greene County Commissioners Betsy McClure, Jared Edgreen and Blair Zimmerman go over items during WednesdayÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ agenda meeting.

With multiple union negotiations on the horizon, the Greene County Board of Commissioners will consider updating their legal representation for labor matters.

The commission voted Wednesday to add an agenda item at an upcoming meeting for an engagement/fee agreement with Campbell Durrant, P.C. to serve as special labor counsel. The cost will be the same to the county as under its agreement with Sally Cimini, who has previously served in the role as legal representation for human resources.

“It’s not like we terminated that agreement with her,” said Clerk Jeff Marshall. “She’s unable to fulfill her duties anymore, (these were) the people that were backing her up.”

The county recently finished one negotiation and has two more coming up, Board Chairman Jared Edgreen said. The United Mine Workers of America union covers caseworkers in the county’s Department of Human Services office, while the SEIU master unit represents support staff throughout the county.

Contracts typically run three to four years, Marshall said.

The agreement will be on the agenda for Thursday’s regular meeting.
