The body of Jerry Grimm, 55, of Connellsivlle was found early Friday near the Dawson Bridge. Over 100 first responders, including over 30 divers, have spent the past two days searching for him.

The body of a Connellsville man who went missing while fishing on the Youghiogheny River Tuesday night was found near the Dawson Bridge Friday morning, according to Fayette County emergency officials.

The body of Jerry Grimm, 55, was discovered at around 6:47 a.m., said a Fayette County Emergency Management spokesperson.

GrimmĢƵ family said he went fishing around 6 p.m. Tuesday, heading into the river near Martucci Funeral Home on South First Street in Connellsville.

Yesterday emergency officials made the decision to pause their search as a result of ongoing dangerous river conditions, Connellsville Police Sgt. Bryan Kendi said.

“All river rescue agencies have come together, and after exhausting all resources, we have to wait for the natural ebb and flow of the river to reveal his location,” Kendi said yesterday.

GrimmĢƵ wife and two daughters said on Wednesday that Grimm had spent his life swimming in the Youghiogheny River.
