Andy Grammer – ‘Andy Grammer’
The self-titled debut by singer-songwriter Andy Grammer has a distinctly airy touch of gracefulness surrounding the uplifting arrangements of love, life and relationships.
Named one of Billboard’s 2011 Artists to Watch, Grammer lives up to expectations by delivering a collection of irresistible pop songs perfectly designed for the long, lazy nights of summer. Grammer’s voguish voice is an agreeable blending of Michael Buble’s smooth crooning with the seductive touch of Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.
Combining elements of pop, jazz, hip-hop and adult contemporary, Grammer’s light-hearted songs are infectiously pleasing. The first single, “Keep Your Head Up,” is an inspiring, feel-good number that outlines Grammer’s musical persistence during the struggling times of trying to gain an audience and capture success.
Producer Matt Wallace, who also produced “Songs About Jane” from Maroon 5, keeps it smooth and simple as Grammer adds a laid-back feeling to his songs similar to Jason Mraz. “Slow” is a smooth breakup song with distinct traces of Levine’s sexy vocal style navigating the heartfelt message to an emotional satisfying conclusion. The Los Angeles-based Grammer closes with “Biggest Man in Los Angeles.” “All I really need are some ears to hear me dream,” sings Grammer about his early days as a musician in his hometown.
I think it’s safe to say that Grammer will have more than a few ears following his musical dreams as his pop-infused melodies promise to leave fans wanting more.
