A history lesson through photographs will be featured at the State Theatre in Uniontown next Friday.

The Rev. Pete Malik, the co-director of the Penn Highlands Teens for Christ, will host the event, where he will show hundreds of old photographs of the Uniontown area, many of which were from the collection of local photographer, historian and author Jack Gates.

Malik, whoÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ working on a book on the history of Uniontown that will include many of the photos to be presented, will be the emcee of the event and will show the photos on the big screen and tell the history and some stories of the photographs, the oldest of which stretches back to around 1850.

The event will take place at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown at 7 p.m. Jan. 13.

Malik said the event is free, but the theater is accepting donations from anyone wanting to donate.
