DIY history weekend slated for July 15-16 at West Overton Village
West Overton Village and Fort Allen Antique Farm Equipment Association are teaming up for a big weekend of free family-friendly fun, Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16.
West Overton VillageÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ DIY History Weekend and Fort Allen Antique Farm Equipment AssociationÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Ice Cream Summer Fun Festival — both based in Scottdale — run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
At West Overton Village, visitors can take part in activities inspired by life in the village in the 19th century, including making butter, soap or a candle. Guests can also play games, watch cooking demonstrations in the summer kitchen, and experiment with historic laundering tools and techniques.
At Fort Allen, visitors can explore a variety of displays and activities inspired by agricultural heritage, including restored antique tractors and farming equipment, along with model trains and tractors. A tractor parade will be held both days at 1 p.m., followed by a tractor rodeo at 1:30 p.m. Homemade ice cream and other food and drinks will also be available.
While visitors can walk or drive between the two entities, Fort Allen will provide a shuttle service.
