Tunes abound in North Belle Vernon park

2 min read

North Belle Vernon’s Community Bank Park will fill with music the third week of July when two local groups host musical programs.

On Thursday, July 20 at 6:30 p.m., the Belle Vernon Public Library will host 3Rivers4, an a cappella harmony group which performs in the “Barbershop style.” The group presents a wide variety of songs ranging from doo-wop, popular in the 1950s and ’60s, to inspirational and patriotic songs.

“I understand from someone who has seen them perform at another Westmoreland Library Network library that they welcome participation and singing along,” noted the Belle Vernon Library director Elina Filander. “We hope to make this a community, all-ages event for a summer evening.”

That weekend the North Belle Vernon Rec Committee is inviting one and all to get ready to polka the day away when the long-running Polka in the Park returns on Sunday, July 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. This year Ray Jay & the Carousels will have provide the tunes to have everyone taking three quick steps and a hop or at least tapping their toes in time.

Community Bank Park is located at 725 Graham St. in North Belle Vernon. Both events are free and open to the public thanks in part to a grant from Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation.
