Pittsburg Civic Orchestra brings ‘The Circus’ to town
The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, under the direction of Alejandro Pinzon, will present “The Circus Is In Town!” on Saturday Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
The music, by Joseph Nicholas Fried, is a quartet scored for flute, clarinet, cello and piano, and evokes the buzz of activity that surrounds the preparation and the excitement of the performers in anticipation of the show. The featured selection will be “Carnival of the Animals” by Saint-Saens with narration provided by Daniel Kovacic, music director of Resurrection Parish.
The orchestra will also perform quintessential circus music; Kabalevsky’s “Dance of the Comedians” and “Entry of the Gladiators” by Julius Fucík.
The concert will be held at St. Thomas More Church, Resurrection Parish 126 Ft. Couch Rd. Pittsburgh. There will be family friendly pre-concert activities, including a balloon artist, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. There are no tickets. A suggested $10 offering donation will be accepted at the door.
