Johnny CashÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ grandson headlines Rockin’ the Mon Riverfest

1 min read

Thomas Gabriel, one of Johnny Cash’s grandsons, is the headliner for this year’s Rockin’ the Mon Riverfest at the Noble J. Dick Monongahela Aquatorium Saturday.

The 53-year-old Gabriel is the son of Kathy Cash, one of Cash’s daughters, and he went on the road with his grandfather when he was a child. Later on, problems with substance abuse landed him in prison, and it was there that he developed an interest in songwriting.

Upon his release, Gabriel started working on his debut album, “Long Way Home.” Gabriel has said the best compliment he can receive is “when someone tells me that my music has helped them through a hard time or touched their heart in some way.”

Also appearing at Riverfest are the Pittsburgh-area bands DuShane and Walkin’ Rosie.

It starts at 3 p.m. and boaters are welcome to dock. The event is rain or shine. For information, go online to monaquatorium.com.
