CONSOL thanks those who helped make ‘Fish For Fun Day’ a success
On behalf of CONSOL Energy, we would like to thank the many community partners, volunteers, and participants who made our second annual, “Fish for Fun Day” such a tremendous success. Fish for Fun took place at Lake Wilma in Blacksville, WV on April 27.
Fish for Fun would not have been possible without community support and participation, and the many volunteers who helped make this event fun and safe for the kids and their families. We would like to recognize our community partners who donated so much of their time and effort. From everyone at CONSOL, thank you to the Blacksville Volunteer Fire Department, Black Diamond Equipment Rental, Cabela’s, Clay-Battelle Band Boosters, Joe Rigg’s Tackle and Bait Shop, Marion County Emergency Squad, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Republic Services, West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and West Virginia Radio Corporation-WKKW and WVAQ. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the many schools, area businesses, and youth programs that helped publicize the event.
More than 1,000 children and adults turned out to cast their lines in hopes of reeling in the biggest catch. We would like to congratulate all who participated, and give special acknowledgement to each of our winners. Our 2013 grand champion was Gracey Eddy who reeled in the biggest catch of the day, weighing in at 2.6 pounds and measuring nearly 19 inches. J.J. Figueroa placed first in the 9-12 age division with Gavin Henderson placing second and Madison Larve in third. The winners of the 8 and under division include: Gage Pierce; first place, Brandon Lee; second place, and Mackenzie Wilson in third place.
For nearly 150 years, CONSOL Energy has been an integral part of this region. We are proud to share the heritage of the outdoors through our state agency enrolled properties in West Virginia and Pennsylvania so that activities like hunting and fishing can be passed on to future generations. Lake Wilma is a former freshwater impoundment for CONSOL Energy’s Blacksville mine. The land is enrolled with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, allowing it to be enjoyed by the public for fishing and other outdoor activities year-round.
Again, thank you to the many community partners and families who participated in the second annual Fish for Fun Day.
Sincerely,
Laural Ziemba
