Police accuse Waynesburg man with assaulting girlfriend

By Miles Layton, For The Greene County Messenger 2 min read

Police have accused a Waynesburg man of slamming his girlfriend’s head into a wall and physically assaulting her.

Waynesburg police allege that Jeremy David Coll, 34, hit Becky Sondernicker in the head and face with a pillow so much so that she bit her tongue hard enough to draw blood.

The complaint said Coll then allegedly slammed Sondernicker’s head into a wall twice before hitting her in the eye with the heel of his hand.

Police allege that Coll then used both of his hands to hit Sondernicker in the chest before he grabbed her arm and yanked her around. Police said they saw bruises on Sondernicker’s right eye, right arm and a knot on top of her head.

The complaint said Coll allegedly broke Sondernicker’s phone, took her keys and threatened to injure her or leave her in a pool of blood if she tried to leave or contact police. Police allege that Sondernicker was unable to leave her apartment for more than six hours.

According to court documents, Coll is charged with simple assault, making terroristic threats, false imprisonment and harassment.

Coll was arraigned Sept. 9 before Magisterial District Judge, who set bond at $25,000. He remains in Greene County Prison. Coll’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 23 in Watson’s courtroom.
