Raiders sweep meet from visiting Brownsville
Waynesburg Central survived the elements and visiting Brownsville on a rainy Thursday afternoon to sweep a Section 6-AA meet.
The Raiders defeated Brownsville, 113-36, while the Waynesburg girls won, 76-66.
The Waynesburg boys improve to 7-0, while the Falcons slip to 1-3 in the section. The Lady Raiders go to 6-1, with the Brownsville girls go to 2-2 in the section.
The Raiders’ Blake Brewer (100, 11.58; 200, 24.30) and Ben Bumgarner (1,600, 5:14; 800, 2:24) won two events. Collin Rose (110 high hurdles, 18.27), Cameron McIe (400, 55.84), Daniel Layton (300 intermediate hurdles, 46.90), Cade Rush (3,200, 11:51), Mitch Warman (shot put, 46-3), Ryan Brownsfield (javelin, 112-0), Will Behm (pole vault), and Cole Leathers (triple jump, 33-0) also finished first.
Waynesburg also won the 3,200 relay (10:42) and 1,600 relay (4:14).
Brownsville’s Shane Walters, Reggie Grooms, Marcellous Grooms and John Pascoe won the 400 relay in 49.62 seconds.
Harry Hiles (discus, 94-7), Bryant Lewis (high jump, 5-4), and Grant Lima (long jump, 16-7½) all finished first for the Falcons.
The Lady Raiders’ Emma Tustin (100 high hurdles, 17.90), Megan McElligot (100, 14.30; 200, 33.99), Lindsee Zimmer (1,600, 5:47), Kirsten Garber (800, 2:51), Maddie Brooks (shot put, 32-6), Jessie Belding (javelin, 95-4), and Brenna Lipscomb (pole vault, 9-0) finished first.
Waynesburg also won the 400 relay (1:03.40).
The Brownsville quartet of Adrienne Vance, Rae’Ven Walker, Jessica Vance and Sara Vance opened the meet by winning the 3,200 relay in 12:05.
Walker (400, 1:12), Justine Brown (300 intermediate hurdles, 1:04.9), and Sara Vance (3,200, 12:38) won on the track for the Lady Falcons.
The Seto sisters accounted for four first-place finishes. Alie Seto won the discus (86-6) and shared first place in the high jump with Maris at 4-4. Maris Seton also won the triple jump (33-4) and long jump (16-4).
