Rohanna misses the cut in Guatemala
Robert Rohanna knew he had to go low in the second round to make the cut in the Guatemala Stella Artois Open, but carded too many bogeys and missed the cut at 6-over 150.
The Waynesburg Central graduate needed two days to complete the second round at La Reunion Golf Club when Friday’s play was suspended due to lightning.
Rohanna carded a 1-over 73 in the second round after opening with a 5-over 77. The cut for the low 55 (and ties) was at 1-over 145.
Rohanna had to deal with health issues throughout the three days of play.
“My throat is still acting up, but everything is breaking up as far as the sickness goes. My nose is running and I’m coughing up the badness,” Rohanna said via Facebook Messenger. “I’ll be fine. This was just unfortunate this week and it happens to everyone at some point being sick at work.
“My job is just pretty difficult to do sometimes.”
Rohanna had two birdies on both the front and back nines. He scored two bogeys on the front and three more on the back nine.
“Honestly, I was hitting it pretty good last night (Friday). I had a bunch of makeable birdies,” said Rohanna. “Then today the first three holes we played were dead into the wind, instead of yesterday being downwind.
“I didn’t get off to the ideal start yesterday or today.”
The PGA Tour Latinoamerica takes the week off before resuming the first weekend of May for the Honduras Open.
“I get the week off before the long haul to end the whole month of May, so maybe back to basics a little. I’ll get into the gym a few times and get some good practice sessions in,” said Rohanna.
