Rohanna slips, but makes the cut
Rachel Rohanna had seven birdies in Thursday’s opening round of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic presented by CTBC, but her game in Friday’s second round did an unfortunate 180-degree turn.
The Waynesburg Central graduate carded nine bogeys to finish with a 39 on both the front and back nines for a 6-over 78. Fortunately, although she slipped from a tie for sixth into a tie for 48th, Rohanna made the cut.
Rohanna started on the back nine and opened with a bogey. After a par, she sandwiched back-to-back bogeys around her lone birdie of the front nine to move to even par for the tournament.
She closed the front nine with a birdie to get back to 1-under for the tournament.
Rohanna made the turn with three straight bogeys. She settled down with a par, but lost another stroke with a bogey. She closed the second round with a birdie.
Haru Nomura holds the lead at the midpoint of the tournament at 9-under 135. The projected cut was at 4-over.
Rohanna had her troubles on the green with 34 putts. She hit 7-of-14 fairways and 10-of-18 greens in regulation.
