Rohanna closes with 3-over 75

Rachel Rohanna doesn’t carry much sway as a rookie on the LPGA Tour, but if she did Sunday’s final round of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic presented by CTBC might be the norm for her.

Rohanna played the fourth round by herself Sunday morning, shooting a 3-over 75 and needing just 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete the 18 holes.

“It was awesome!,” said Rohanna. “I played in a onesome. I went off the tee at 7:08 a.m. The LPGA record is 1 hour and 26 minutes.

“It was the first-time ever (she played without a partner) and I had a blast. This course was too hilly for me to break the record.”

The quickness of her round also showed in her play.

“I played well. I missed two 2-footers, sliders, for par. The bogey on No. 17, I hooked it left and had to punch out. I had three or four birdie opportunities. The par-5s got me the last couple days. I was 6-under the first two days and 1-over the last two.”

Although she had three over-par rounds after opening with a 4-under 68, Rohanna saw positives to carry forward as the tour moves onto Texas.

“I don’t think I ever felt this addicted to golf,” said Rohanna. “I don’t think I’ve hit my irons much better. It’s just getting that driver down. I need to get out there and hit some drives.

“I feel so close to getting back to where I was at this time last year.”

Rohanna continued the thought, saying, “The confidence of making the cut. My ball striking, my irons, I’m much more pleased with the way I hit them on the final day.”
