Rohannas close 2016 season
Robert Rohanna was in the hunt through the midpoint of the Shell Championship, while a couple big numbers derailed Rachel Rohanna in the LPGA and Symetra Tour Q School last week as the 2016 season came to a close for the two Waynesburg Central graduates.
Robert Rohanna was tied for fifth after the first round at 2-under and tied for seventh with the same score after the second round of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s season-ending tour championship.
He slid down the leaderboard in the third round, though, after shooting a 6-over 76. Rohanna wasn’t able to get back the scoring touch in the final round, closing with a 74 to finished tied for 38th place.
Rohanna won $918.75 to run his season earnings to $31,174 in 16 events. He finished 31st in the Order of Merit earnings.
Rohanna finished second in one event, had two top-10 finishes, nine top-25 finishes and missed the cut seven times.
Rachel Rohanna had enough big numbers to hurt her chance to make the cut and advance to the final round of Q School.
She opened with a 2-over 74 and then shot 76 in the second round. Rohanna recovered to shoot 1-under 71 in the third round, but finished with a 4-over 76 in the fourth round to finish outside the low 70 scores (and ties) at 11-over.
Rohanna had three double bogeys and two triples over the four rounds to account for 12 strokes lost to par. She carded 11 bogeys, which was offset by 12 birdies.
