Play at Coates Golf Championship washed out

Rachel Rohanna was set to tee off at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, but the weather wasn’t very cooperative with the second round of the Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers finally suspended at 3:15 p.m.

The Waynesburg Central grad begins her second round today at 8 a.m. Rohanna finished at 2-over 74 in the first round and currently sits one shot behind the projected cut at 1-over.

The tournament was initially suspended at 12:45 p.m. due to lightning, about 15 minutes before Rohanna’s scheduled tee time. The tournament was finally suspended due to lightning and unplayable conditions.

Only 22 players in the field completed the second round with another 27 yet to tee off. 

Hara Nomura is the leader in the clubhouse at 6-under 138. Lydia Ko is at 7-under with one hole to play, with Ha Na Jong also at 7-under and set to tee off for her second round at 7:30 a.m.

The third round is expected to get underway around 1:45 p.m. with golfers teeing off both Nos. 1 and 10.
