Consider fasting for better health
It would be really helpful if everyone got the chance to stand on the moon and look back at the earth at least once. The perspective might help us all realize what a tiny moment in the universe our lives represent.
And from that revelation, we may gain perspective on many things, including the illusion that we live in “modern times.” Yes, of course, we live in the furthest point on the timeline of existence, as we understand it, but to see that the past 2,000, or even 50,000 years are but a hiccup to the universe can have enormous effects on our consciousness.
One such effect is the realization that modern medicine is a meaningless term when viewed from the moon. What that means is our biology is essentially unchanged since the beginning of our human existence, whether you believe in the monkey idea, or the creator idea, or even the alien idea.
It is true that certain technologies and resulting efficiencies have made some procedures more expedient, such as being able to operate on a knee without cutting a large hole, not every “new” approach is necessarily more effective than its “ancient” counterpart, because the biology is the same. In fact, because we did not have the access to chemical compounds in the way we do now, we may have avoided poisoning ourselves with such things as heavy metals in vaccines.
Long before MRIs, and CAT Scans, there were effective techniques for healing people, and pretty much all were based on respect for the incredible built-in healing power of our bodies. You may say, “but I heard ancient people did not live as long as us on average.” That may not be an entirely fair statement. Archeologists have found human remains that they could show by carbon dating and other techniques to be over 100 years of age at death.
When human social orders organized people by classes, and thereby created poverty, starvation, cramped unsanitary living conditions, and wars to name a few, then naturally many persons died earlier, but these were anything but “natural” causes.
So, as we stand here on the moon together contemplating all this, we can hopefully realize that the wisdom built into our bodies by nature or a creator is capable of effecting healing in ways that precede any medical technology if we can get out of its way. How do we get out of its way? Arguably the most ancient, and most effective method is water fasting. In this age, the idea of fasting, or even skipping a meal seems absurd. Most people believe we go into “starvation mode” or something similar. While that may be true to an extent, what we don’t realize is that is not a bad thing for most people.
No doubt if you have any blood sugar issues, or other known health concerns, your fast should be closely monitored by a doctor. There are actual fasting clinics and resorts where you can do just that: fast for weeks under close supervision. For people who are not suffering from acute conditions, fasting can be perfectly safe on your own, but if there is any doubt it is best to seek out a doctor or natural healer familiar with monitoring your condition.
The reason a water fast is so effective is that our bodies burn tremendous energy in digestion, and they only repair and cleanse when we are not making them process food. This is one reason why when we get sick with a flu or bad cold, we lose our appetite. Our body knows implicitly that it needs to fast to concentrate on detoxification and healing. It is a gift for many people to be forced to fast at these times. Your family doctor knows nothing compared to the knowledge programmed into your body. There is no shortage of videos, books, web sites on this topic, so please be encouraged to do your own research on the matter.
In the meantime, be advised that water fasting has been documented to heal a long list of ailments including type II diabetes, diverticulitis, fibromyalgia, arthritis and hypertension, just to name a very, very few. Actually, to be fair, it should be said that fasting allows the body to heal these things. Please understand that fasting alone will not make up for poor eating and lifestyle choices, but it is perhaps the single most effective tool for healing in conjunction with improving eating, activity, sleep and stress management.
How long to fast? There is a range of opinions, but most seem to agree that about 21 days is the ideal for most people. However, there are benefits to 24-hour, 36-hour and seven-day fasts as well. Some of this depends on how clogged up a person is from diet and environment toxins. On my journey, I have tried juice cleansing, mono-fruit cleansing, and water fasting. I agree that water fasting is the most effective in the shortest time. I have not yet done water fasting over three days, but I am gearing up to do so as soon as I find a natural healer I feel is competent to monitor me. I will, of course, report my results to my readers.
I encourage all of you to consider fasting. While it is an effective weight loss technique, the benefits are much deeper. They are physical, mental and spiritual, which is why there are stories of gurus of all kinds who fasted.
