Rohanna waits to complete second round

By Jim Downey, For The Greene County Messenger 2 min read

Robert Rohanna spent all day at the golf course Friday, but didn’t complete a full round as storms plagued the Honduras Open, eventually causing the second round to be suspended because of darkness.

The opening round was suspended causing Rohanna to start early in the day for his final six holes.

Rohanna shot 1-under 71 in the first round and sits at 1-under through 12 holes in his suspended second round.

“I played 15 holes and was at the golf course for 13 hours,” Rohanna said via Facebook Messenger.

Rohanna will be back on the course bright and early on Saturday, as he was on Friday.

“Yep, 6:30 a.m. in position again,” said Rohanna.

The Waynesburg Central graduate had one birdie and 11 pars in the 12 holes he completed in the second round. He currently sits in tied for 41st, moving up 18 spots. The low 55 scores (and ties) advance to the third round.

“I did not start well, but I played well the whole rest of the day. But, the greens were so bad!,” emphasized Rohanna. “I could not make a putt. It rained five inches from 6:30 a.m. to noon and they didn’t get a chance to cut them, apparently. So the people who played yesterday had nice greens and tomorrow they will again.”
