Rohanna moves into third round
Robert Rohanna moved to 6-under for the tournament Thursday afternoon, but closed with a par of bogeys for a two-round total of 4-under 140 to move into the top 10 of the Casa de Campo Dominican Republic Open.
The Waynesburg Central graduate shot another 2-under 70 to move up seven spots on the leaderboard into a tie for ninth place.
American Ken Looper leads at the midpoint with a 9-under 135.
“I played decent today besides the end, but happy with where I am right now. I was in control on the front nine. I hit it to a foot on No. 1, chipped it to six inches on No. 3, had four feet on No. 4 and six feet on No. 6,” Rohanna said via Facebook Messenger on his four front-nine birdies.
He sandwiched birdies around a bogey on No. 2 and carded another birdie on No. 8 to go out in 2-under 35. Rohanna scored two birdies on the first five holes on the back nine, but closed with bogey-bogey for another 35.
Although he has two consecutive under-par rounds, Rohanna understands he still has 36 holes of golf ahead of him on Teeth of the Dog Casa de Campo.
“I mean the leader on Day 2 doesn’t win the event!,” said Rohanna. “So, just stay around the number and maybe I can get a 6-birdie, no-bogey round and win this thing.”
