Raiders defeat Carmichaels in playoff
Waynesburg Central defeated Carmichaels in a two-man, two-hole playoff Thursday afternoon for a Section 8-AA home victory at Rohanna’s Golf Course.
The teams tied at 206 to force the playoff. The Raiders won the playoff, 14-17.
Carmichaels goes to 8-2 in the section and 8-4 overall. Waynesburg improves to 7-3 in the section and 8-3 overall with remaining matches against California this afternoon and Jefferson-Morgan on Monday.
California leads the section at 9-1.
The Mikes’ Liam Shea was medalist with a 1-over 33. Matt Barrish shot a 36. Ethan Greene finished with 44. Chris McAfee and Taggart Shea both shot 46. Delaney Lohr’s 51 wasn’t used.
Aaron Yorio was the low man for the Raiders with a 4-over 37. Kyle Shriver shot 40 and Brandon Turcheck had a 41. MaCottie Denjen (43) and Trey Rohanna (45) closed out the scoring. Richard Bortz’s 47 wasn’t used.
