West Greene boys sweep meet at Charleroi
The West Greene boys returned home from Charleroi Thursday afternoon with a Section 6-AA sweep, defeating the Cougars, 71-70, and Frazier, 75-52.
The Lady Pioneers weren’t as fortunate, dropping both ends of the triangular to Charleroi, 105-32, and Frazier, 79-44.
Craig Weaver (shot put, 40-1; discus, 119-3), Zach McHenry (triple jump, 36-6), Brayden Black (javelin, 127-9), Austin Crouse (1,600, 5:24.76; 3,200, 12:36), Drew Wise (110 high hurdles, 19.97), and Isaac Rizor (200, 25.11) all had first-place finishes against the Cougars. The Pioneers won the 400 relay, also.
Wise (110 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles), Mitchell Murdock (400, 1:01.13), Rizor, Crouse (3,200), Weaver (discus, shot put), and McHenry (triple jump) also finished first against Frazier.
Julian Muccioli (100, 12.0; long jump, 19-¾), Nyoah Marteny (1,600, 5:21.16; 800, 2:16.15), and Josh Cox (javelin, 146-8) finished first against West Greene.
Abigail Smith (100 high hurdles, 19.61), Skye Eicher (100, 13.33), Jovanna Isaac (200, 30.47; shot put, 23-7), Khristyne Barch (javelin, 108-1), and Annya Kossol (high jump, 4-4; long jump, 14-11; triple jump, 32-5½) finished first for Frazier against West Greene.
The Lady Commodores won the 3,200 relay in 12:43.79 and the 1,600 relay in 5:01.
Rory McGowan swept the distance races against Frazier, winning the 1,600 (6:25), 800 (2:48.87) and 3,200. Jade Rittenhouse finished first in the 300 intermediate hurdles (56.91) and Gina Mankey won the discus (64-11).
The Lady Cougars’ Maria Claybaugh (long jump, 14-7½; high jump, 4-2), Shayla Watkins (100 high hurdles, 17.73; 300 intermediate hurdles, 52.27), Emmy Zajack (triple jump, 21-7½), Jessica Day (100, 13.43; 200, 1:03), Sierra Short (800, 2:45.14) all had first-place finishes against the Lady Pioneers.
