Maples win wild 15-14 game in extra innings

After the Maples helped Geibel Catholic score nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, visiting Mapletown tied the game with seven in the top of the seventh and then scored the winning run in the eighth for a wild 15-14 Section 2-A victory on Monday.

The Maples (2-4, 3-6) led 7-5 through five innings, but the Gators (0-7, 0-9) blasted into their first lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The key hit in the Maples’ rally in the seventh inning was Dylan Rush’s bases-loaded triple. He then scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.

Garrett Phillips’ brought home the game-winning run with a double in the eighth.

Cody Dice came in the sixth and finished out the game for the win.

Ethan Jellots took the loss for the Gators.

Noah Haines and Brandon Donley both had a pair of doubles for the Maples. 

Jellots, Dalton Elcock, Noah Geary and Collin Majhan all had doubles for the Gators.
