Rohanna falters in third round

Rachel Rohanna was in position to play in Sunday’s LPGA Q School final round after 36 holes, but faltered in the third round Friday and was unable to recoup the lost strokes Saturday.

The Waynesburg Central graduate shot a 1-over 73 in Saturday’s third round on the LPGA International Hills course.

Rohanna had a tough 18 holes on the Jones course Friday, finishing with an 8-over 80.

The expected cut for the top 70 and ties after the fourth round was at 4-over.

Rohanna had birdies on Nos. 1 and 3 in the fourth round, but gave the strokes back with a bogey-bogey finish on the front nine. She made the turn with a bogey on No. 10, shaved a stroke with a birdie on No. 13, and lost the stroke with a bogey on No. 16.

She played the front in even-par 36 and back in 1-over 37.

Rohanna had no birdies in the third round Friday, with four bogeys on the front nine of the Jones course — including three in a row to start the frong — and a bogey and triple bogey-6 on the back.

She played the front and back in 4-over 40.

Rohanna had a strong start in the qualifying tournament with a 1-under 71. She slipped a little bit in the second round with a 2-over 74.
