Waynesburg wins PAC wrestling crown

Waynesburg had five individual champions and the Yellow Jackets easily won the team title Saturday at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships.

Waynesburg finished with 119.02 points, well ahead of host Washington & Jefferson’s total of 81.53. Thiel was third with 78.54 points and Thomas More (Ky.) was fourth with 59.5.

Tristan Buxton (125), Shaun Wilson (149), Ryan Shank (184), Ken Burrs (197), and Jake Evans (285) finished first for the Yellow Jackets.

Waynesburg’s Fillippo Crivelli (141) and Dan Verhovsek (165) lost in the finals.

The Yellow Jackets’ Zach Mackall (149), Derek Hull (174), Adam Rigney (197), and Will VanNorman (285) finished third. Landon Lohr (157) placed fourth.

Washington & Jefferson’s Hunter Neely, a Bentworth grad, won the 157-pound title.
