Waynesburg women upend W&J, 71-66
The Waynesburg women bookended two solid quarters Wednesday night to upset visiting Washington & Jefferson, 71-66, in Presidents’ Athletic Conference action.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 10-7 in the PAC and 14-10, while the Presidents go to 13-4 in the conference and 16-8 overall.
Waynesburg led 17-16 after the first quarter, but W&J pushed into a 30-27 halftime lead. The visitors extended the advantage to 50-45 at the end of the third quarter, but the Yellow Jackets rallied in the final quarter, 26-16.
Kassidy O’Keefe led Waynesburg with a game-high 20 points. Katie Gehlmann finished with 18 and Addy Knetzer added 14. Knetzer also grabbed 10 rebounds.
Rachel Bellhy scored 19 points for W&J. Danielle Parker had 16 and Taylor Cortuzzo added 14.
The Washington & Jefferson men turned the tables on the Yellow Jackets, holding on for a 57-56 win.
The Presidents led 27-25 at halftime. Waynesburg (4-13, 6-18) held a slim 31-30 advantage in the second half.
Jon Knab scored a game-high 18 points for Waynesburg. Marcus Wallaced added 10.
Sean Stinelli led W&J (4-13, 4-20) with 14 points. Brian Lindquist added 12.
