Fisher strong in Mitch’s 5-1 win over Copperheads

Carmichaels opened the scoring with a run in the first but Josiah Fisher held the Copperheads off the scoreboard the rest of the game in Mitch’s Bail Bonds’ 5-1 victory last Thursday night in Fayette County Baseball League action at Carmichaels High School baseball field.

Fisher allowed just the one run on five hits in seven innings. He had five strikeouts and walked four.

Carmichaels (2-1) took its 1-0 lead into the top of the fourth when Mitch’s Bail Bonds (1-1) scored three runs for a 3-1 advantage.

Mitch’s tied the game at 1-1 before Tyler Chrise’s two-run single gave the visitors the 3-1 lead.

Jack Oberdorf had an RBI single for Mitch’s in the fifth for a 4-1 lead, and Oberdorf scored on a wild pitch for Mitch’s Bail Bonds’ fifth run.

The Copperheads’ Chuck Gasti and Joby Lapkowicz doubled.

Teammate Hunter Robinson took the pitching loss, but was strong in allowing five runs (three earned) on two hits in five innings. He had six strikeouts and walked five.

Mitch’s returns to action this evening when its hosts Little Joeys Pizza at Veterans Memorial Field in Charleroi. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. The two teams meet again on Sunday at Redstone Field with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.

Carmichaels looks to bounce back on Monday when it travels to Mill Run (3-0) at 6 p.m.
