Mikes cruise to 17-7 win over Blue Devils
Carmichaels trailed 5-4 after the first inning, but scored 10 runs over the next three innings on its way to a 17-7 Section 1-AA win Monday afternoon over visiting Burgettstown.
The Mikes (11-3, 13-4) scored three in the bottom of the second, one in the third and four in the fourth. The Blue Devils (1-11, 2-13) scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, but Carmichaels invoked the mercy rule with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Brad Ruse came on in the first inning and pitched 4.2 innings for the win. He allowed two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Joel Spishock and Dylan Wilson both homered for the Mikes. Spishock went 2-for-3 with two RBI and four runs scored, while Wilson was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and four RBI.
Nathan Broadwater drove in three runs for Carmichaels, while Collin Reynolds had two RBI.
