Lady Trojans fend off Carmichaels, move into first-place tie
California held off host Carmichaels, 39-34, to jump into a first-place tie in Section 3-AA in girls basketball action on Tuesday night.
The Lady Trojans (7-3, 4-1) took a 12-6 lead in the opening frame but the Lady Mikes (4-7, 1-4) pulled within 24-22 by halftime and trailed by just one, 28-27 after three periods.
California out-scored Carmichaels 11-7 in the fourth to hold on for the victory.
Bailey Vig led the Lady Trojans with 15 points and Dajah Gudel contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Kristina Aeschbacher topped the Lady Mikes in scoring with 15 points and Megan Walker added 10.
California is now tied with Serra Catholic and Beth-Center atop the section standings.
