Lady Pioneers breeze to 70-22 road win

The West Greene girls put up 22 points in the first quarter Monday night and cruised home from there for a 70-22 Section 2-A road victory at Monessen.

The Lady Pioneers (8-0, 16-1) led 56-12 at halftime. They held a slight 14-10 advantage in the second half.

West Greene clinched the section title, its second in a row and fourth overall, and will host Geibel Catholic in the second game of a boy-girl doubleheader Thursday. The boys play California at 6 p.m.

Madison Lampe led West Greene with 22 points and is now 14 points away from 1,000 for her career. Kaitlyn Rizor finished with 19 and McKenna Lampe added 10.

Marqula Green led the Lady Greyhounds (1-7, 2-15) with nine points.
