Colonials upend Carmichaels, 5-3
Albert Gallatin moved into the lead in the bottom of the first inning Wednesday afternoon and never let go of the advantage for a 5-3 non-section victory over visiting Carmichaels.
The Colonials improve to 5-13, while the Mikes are 11-5 overall.
Carmichaels scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Colonials countered with two in the bottom of the inning.
The home team added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and scored the fifth run in the bottom of the fourth.
The Mikes rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Nate Bricker pitched the final five innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Austin Bergman doubled and drove in two runs for the Colonials. Adam Simon scored a pair of runs.
Logan Mayhle went four innings for the loss. He allowed five runs (one earned) on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Nick Mundell went 3-for-4 for the Mikes with an RBI. Al Cree was 2-for-4 with a run scored.Â
