Rohanna misses cut in Symetra Tour event
Rachel Rohanna fought back to even par in Friday’s second round of the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Classic, but a wayward tee shot led to a triple bogey and a missed cut.
The Waynesburg Central graduate shot 4-over 74 after opening with a 3-over 73. The cut was at 4-over 144.
Rohanna opened the second round on No. 10 and lost two strokes to the field on No. 12 with a double bogey-6. She followed with a bogey-6 on No. 14, but got back two strokes with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16-17 to to out in 1-over 37.
She made the turn and opened her back nine with a birdie to pull to even for the round and above the expected cut line.
After back-to-back pars, Rohanna muscled a tee shot over the green on No. 4, a par-3, which eventually led to a triple bogey-6.
“I played really well. I was just hitting it too well today. I definitely got my strength back, and then some,” said Rohanna. “I hit a 9-iron 145 (yards) into the wind, oh well.
“I airmailed the green into a hazard and had a really tough up and down.”
Rohanna was unable to recover from the triple, finishing out the round with two bogeys and a birdie for a 3-over 37 on her back nine.
She hit 6-of-13 fairways and 12-of-18 greens in regulation. As in her first round, Rohanna needed 31 putts.
“I am very pleased with my play. I just didn’t get the scorecard to show it,” added Rohanna.
