Pioneers’ Jackson goes over 3,000 mark with 336 yards, 5 TDs in win at C-H

By For The Greene County Messenger 1 min read

Ben Jackson exploded for 336 yards and five touchdowns as visiting West Greene steamrolled Chartiers-Houston, 41-0, in a Tri-County South game last Friday night.

The outstanding performance pushed the junior running back over 3,000 career rushing yards. Jackson is now second in school history but has a way to go to catch No. 1 on the list. Rodney Jackson rushed for 6,304 yards from 1990 to 1993.

Jackson scored the only points coach Rod Huffman’s first-place Pioneers (2-1, 2-0) would need with an eight-yard TD run in the first quarter. He broke loose for scoring runs of 67, 55 and 29 in the second quarter as West Greene took a 27-0 halftime lead.

Pioneers quarterback Gavin Scott ran for an 11-yard touchdown late in the third quarter before Jackson capped the game’s scoring with a 42-yard burst in the fourth quarter.

The Buccaneers (1-1, 1-2) turned the ball over four times on interceptions, including two by the Pioneers’ Nathan Brudnock, who also booted three extra points.

The Red Raiders’ only other points came on another long touchdown run by Craggette, this one of 46 yards, with Richter running in the two-point conversion.
