Mikes cruise past Pioneers, 11-1
The Mikes opened with three runs and didn’t look back as Carmichaels defeated West Greene, 11-1, in five innings Monday afternoon in non-section action.
Carmichaels scored once in the bottom of the second inning and then broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the third.
West Greene tried to prolong the game with a single run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Mikes plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to invoke the mercy rul.
Steven Spehar went the distance for the win, allowing four hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
Gavin Pratt had a double, single, scored two runs and drove in another for the Mikes. Dylan Wilson drove in two runs and scored a pair. Nick Ricco drove in two runs.
Corey Wise took the loss for the Pioneers.
Chase Blake went 2-for-2 for West Greene. Ben Jackson doubled.
