Greyhounds down Mapletown, 13-3
Mapletown scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Monessen countered with seven in the bottom of the inning for a 13-3 victory Wednesday afternoon in Section 2-A action.
The Greyhounds (5-2, 6-5) added three runs in the bottom of the second inning, two in the third and one in the fourth for the 5-inning victory.
Mapletown closed the scoring with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Jack Sacco went the distance for the win, allowing seven hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Zach Evans had a double, single and scored three runs for the Greyhounds. Cam Frolo had two singles and two RBI, and Tyler Swann drove in three runs and scored three.
Chuck Lash took the loss, pitching into the second inning.
Clay Menear and Logan Beck both had two singles for the Maples (0-5, 0-8). Brandon Donley singled and drove in two runs.
