Waynesburg University men’s basketball team headed to Ireland
Waynesburg University蘑菇视频 men蘑菇视频 basketball team will have several road games on its 2019-20 schedule but quite like the one they鈥檒l going on this coming week.
The Yellow Jackets will be traveling to the green hills of Ireland for a 10-day visit where they will take part in a trip that mixes competition and sightseeing beginning Aug. 11.
The week-and-a-half overseas is also a truly unique first experience with recently hired head coach Tim Fusina.
鈥淚t蘑菇视频 a great opportunity for the returners and me to get to know one another and build upon the relationships that we have begun forming over the last few weeks,鈥� said Fusina. 鈥淚t is a little hectic to be coming in and immediately going on an international trip, but everyone has been very helpful. Athletic Director Adam Jack and Assistant Athletic Director Randy Pettit have been unbelievable in their willingness to help me with organizing the trip and answering any questions that a new guy like me has.鈥�
The team will arrive in Dublin on Aug. 12 and will be in Kinsale from Aug. 12-14. The Jackets will take in some sightseeing during that time at multiple historical locations, including the Rock of Cashel, Titanic Historic Trail and Blarney.
In between the festivities, Waynesburg蘑菇视频 first game will played in Cork on Aug. 13.
The Orange and Black will move on to Killarney where it will stay from Aug. 15-17. Possible adventures there include a drive along the West Cork Coastline and visiting Bantry Town, the Muckross House, the Cliffs of Moher and Burren National Park.
The Yellow Jackets will compete in their second game of the trip in Kerry.
From Aug. 18 to 19, the team will visit Galway, where it will participate in a historic walking tour of Galway City, play its final game of the trip and visit Kylemore Abbey.
Fusina蘑菇视频 squad will spend the final day of its trip on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in Dublin. The team will conclude its stay with a traditional Irish farewell dinner with music, song and dance, prior to heading home on the morning of Aug. 21.
鈥淎nytime you can get a chance to have 10 practices and go away together to compete two whole months before the season begins is a great chance to accelerate our growth on the floor and also allow us to get to know one another and bond while we are on the road,鈥� said Fusina.
