Highlanders slip past Waynesburg, 799-52x-798-60x
The difference in Wednesday’s Section 1 rifle match came down to one shot with McGuffey avenging an earlier loss with a 799-52x-798-60x victory over visiting Waynesburg Central.
The first time the teams shot at Waynesburg Sportsmen’s Club the score was tied at 795 with the Raiders winning the tiebreaker 55x-48x.
The loss is the first of the season for the Raiders.
McGuffey counted seven 100 scores, while Waynesburg finished with six.
The Raiders’ Selena Phillips and Cameron Cernuska shared medalist honors with 100-9x. Abby Ozohonish, Shelby Burkett and Taylor Burnfield all shot 100-7x. Grace Kalsey and Colby Simkovic both scored 100-6x. Hunter Wasson (99-9x) and Shelby Burkett (99-7x) closed out the scoring.
Madisyn Francis, Eden Hertig, Gracie Stagon and Jordan Sekora all finished with 100-7x for the Highlanders. Kyle Dietrich and Julia Corrick both shot 100-6x. Adan Brookman (100-5x) and Eric Klages (99-7x) rounded out the scoring.
