Waynesburg women ousted from PAC tourney

The Waynesburg women led at halftime, but Westminster scored 61 points in the second half to rally for an 88-80 victory Monday night in the opening round of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference basketball tournament.

The Yellow Jackets close the season with an 8-18 record. The Titans improve to 9-17 and travel to Chatham Wednesday for a quarterfinal round game.

Waynesburg led 16-11 after the first quarter and added to its lead for a 36-27 halftime lead.

Westminster made up ground in the third quarter, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 26-14, for a 53-50 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Titans salted the game away with a 35-30 advantage in the final 10 minutes.

Andrea Orlosky had a double-double for the Yellow Jackets with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Monica Starre also scored 21 points. Haley Porter finished with 15 points, including four 3-pointers.

Emily Fromknecht finished with a double-double for Westminster, scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Jackie Mathews and Kayla Bennett both scored 18 points, and Magen Polczynski added 17.
