Lady Eagles down Mapletown, 61-45

Avella closed its deficit to one point in the second quarter and the Lady Eagles pulled into the lead in the third quarter for a 61-45 Section 2-A victory Thursday night over visiting Mapletown.

The Lady Maples (2-3, 5-6) led 25-24 at halftime, but Avella rallied to a 36-31 lead after three quarters.

Bess Lengauer scored a game-high 23 points for the Lady Eagles (4-1, 9-3). Jordan Rush added 14.

April Antill led Mapletown with 11 points. Taylor Dusenberry finished with 10.
