Waynesburg Legion upends Farmington, 11-1
Tyler Rush had three hits and Kylar Amos pitched a five-hitter to lead Waynesburg to an 11-1 victory over host Farmington in Fayette American Legion baseball action on Friday.
Drew Miller totaled two hits and two RBIs and Ross Jones also drove in two runs for Waynesburg (4-9) which scored three runs in the second and then blew the game open with a six-run fifth.
Logan Higgins also had two hits. Winning pitcher Amos struck out eight.
Losing pitcher John Harim pitched into the fifth inning for Farmington (6-5).
Belle Vernon 6, Smithfield-Fairchance 2 – Keaton Riley pitched five strong innings and JJ Hartman had two hits and two RBIs to help Belle Vernon top host Smithfield-Fairchance.
Belle Vernon (9-6) led 2-1 after five innings then put up four runs in the sixth to take control.
Jake Rathway relieved winning pitcher Riley and recorded six strikeouts over the final two innings to earn the save. Andrew Eckels added a pair of hits and Riley and David Szerszen both knocked in one run for BV.
Losing pitcher Colby Uphold pitched five innings. Willie Palmer had three hits for S-M (7-5).
