Rachel Rohanna shot 1-under 71 Thursday in the opening round of the inaugural Skigolf Championship hosted by Charlotte Harbor Golf Club.

The Waynesburg Central graduate is tied for 20th place in the opening Symetra Tour event heading into Friday’s second round.

She opened on the back nine with a birdie on No. 10. Rohanna gave the stroke back with a bogey on the next hole, but closed out her front nine with three birdies to go out in 3-under 33.

Rohanna went to 4-under for the round with a birdie after she made the turn, but had three bogeys over the final eight holes to play the back nine in 2-over 38.

“The course play tough today. It was very windy and we started out in 45 degree weather,” said Rohanna, adding, “but, I’ve been training all winter for that.”

She hit 9-of-14 fairways and 12-of-18 greens in regulation. Rohanna need 28 putts.

Jessy Tang, Jillian Hollis and Lauren Kim share the first-round lead at 5-under 67.
