Trojans remain undefeated in section with 6-1 win
Peyton Conte pitched out of a first inning jam and then held Jefferson-Morgan off the board as California remained undefeated in Section 2-A with a 6-1 win Wednesday afternoon.
Bryce Bedilion led off the bottom of the first for the Rockets (4-4, 4-8) with a single. He moved two second on a single and the Rockets loaded the bases on a hit batter.
Losing pitcher Kyle Clayton drove in Bedilion with the first run of the game. Conte escaped the jam with a double play.
California (9-0, 11-1) put up four runs in the top of the third inning, three coming on Jacob Pitkel’s double, for the lead.
The visitors added two in the top of the sixth.
Conte struck out nine and walked four in six innings of work. Jacob Swartz pitched the seventh.
Nate Zemany doubled for the Trojans.
